TOZ Team and the Texas Outdoor Writers Association Work Together Saturday , February 28, 2009 – Port Aransas, Texas: Texas Outdoor Zone made big waves on the Texas coast this last weekend when they provided the number one attended workshop and got hooked up on awards at the Texas Outdoor Writers Association 2009 Annual Conference and Excellence in Craft awards banquet. Kendal Hemphill, TOWA Board Member & Cody Ryan of TOZ Cody Ryan Greaney, TOZ Team angler and marketing manager provided the Texas outdoor writers with a seminar on Communication Trends and the Outdoor Writer where he shared with them the tools of today’s generation. Topics included MySpace, Facebook, Twiter, blogs, forums and more. “The seminar was a huge success and with all the changes going on in the industry we needed a young bright guy to share the tools of this generation with us,” explained Larry J. LeBlanc, Executive Director for TOWA. Greaney is a member of TOWA since his college days where he first became a student member. “I got to really share with everybody the things I, we, do to market TOZ and the fishing team. It changes fast and you can touch a lot of people almost instantly. This was a lot of fun,” Greaney said. When it came to the awards banquet the TOZ team took awards in radio and web site. TJ Greaney also took home a check and an award for an article published in 2008 in Maximum Outdoors. “To be recognized by your peers and to compete against the talent of this state humbles me. I have been an active member for many years and on the board the last two years . For more information contact: TJ Greaney 512-292-1113 or Cody Ryan Greaney at 512-576-2200. ________________________________ Team Launches into 2009 Lake Travis, Texas:  The Texas Outdoor Zone Fishing Team (TOZ) finished in the top 20% of all teams fishing the first Bass Champs central division tournament on Lake Travis, Saturday, Feb.7. Over 400 anglers competed for a spot on the stage after a long day fishing in high winds and partly cloudy skies. From the 219 teams fishing almost half did not weigh in a fish and the majority of the top 20% were within ounces of each other. "We were on some good fish, the pattern was good it just comes down to putting that right group of fish together," said Cody Greaney TOZ team member. " Lake Travis can be a small lake when you have this many skilled anglers out there on the same day competing. We worked hard on the pre-fish and felt good going into the tournament; we were just shy of hitting our mark." The TOZ team (www.texasoutdoorzone.com) begins this year with a new lineup of sponsors and a pared down team anxious to move forward. Last year the TOZ Team of Don Gordon and Cody Greaney competed and fished through two tournament trails and countless open tournaments culminating in qualifying and fishing two prestigious championship tournaments. The success gave them the coveted lone positions on the TOZ reformatted team. "This year we have had some new sponsors come along side us and their support gives us the ability to fish our series without having to concern ourselves with some of the expenses and materials it takes to compete on the state level we are fishing," explained Don Gordon TOZ Team member.
